ISACA Launches AAISM: The First AI Security Management Cert
AI is rewriting the rulebook for security and IT security experts are under pressure to keep up. From deepfakes to automated phishing campaigns, AI introduces risks that traditional security certifications didn't prepare us for.
To address this gap, ISACA has launched the Advanced in AI Security Management (AAISM) certification, designed for experienced professionals who already hold CISM or CISSP credentials. Earning an AAISM certification demonstrates that they can effectively manage the security risks associated with AI and guide their companies in utilizing it safely.
What Need Does AAISM Fill?
AI is changing how companies run, and security is one of the biggest areas affected. The problem is that most security training was never made with AI in mind, so many leaders don’t know where to start. In fact, an ISACA survey showed that 95% of digital trust experts worry that criminals could use generative AI in attacks. The AAISM certification was established to address this issue.
The Three Focus Areas of AAISM
The AAISM program examines three primary areas that are most crucial in regulating AI:
AI risk management
AI controls and technologies
Let's look at each section in more depth.
AI Governance and Program Management
This section covers the definition and allocation of roles, as well as the responsibilities of each individual. Without proper governance, AI projects can cause legal and ethical problems.
AI Risk Management
AI provides numerous advantages. However, biased results, data leaks, and issues in supply chains are some of the inherent risks. In this focus area, leaders are trained to detect these issues in their early stages and address them immediately.
AI Controls and Technologies
Controls are the safety checks for AI. This domain will include ethical standards, privacy protections, and technical safeguards. With strong controls in your systems, your company can use AI responsibly and securely.
If you’re thinking about adding AAISM to your credentials, it helps to start with a solid base in ISACA’s other certifications, such as CISM and ITCA. The CBT Nuggets ISACA Certification playlist offers training that can guide you through those core certifications and prepare you for the next step toward AAISM.
AAISM Builds on What You Already Know
AAISM is designed for individuals who already hold certifications such as CISM or CISSP and have experience working on AI projects. While CISM and CISSP cover security management in general, AAISM focuses on the specific challenges that arise with AI. It covers areas that earlier certifications may have never fully addressed.
Take the Next Step in AI Security Leadership
The rise of AI means security leaders can no longer rely on yesterday’s training to handle tomorrow’s threats. ISACA’s Advanced in AI Security Management (AAISM) certification offers the knowledge and structure needed to lead with confidence.
